12/05/06

We travelled by overnight ferry to Birkenhead, near Liverpool and down to Stafford County Showgrounds where 84 Irish Wolfhounds were gathered for competition in the sun of a very warm May morning. First in under judge Mr. John Briggs, in Minor Puppy Dog, was Gulliagh Albus, now 8 months, and he was placed first. Then, a wait until Open Dog when Ir Ch & Int Ch Gulliagh Zest also won first. Next, the Dog Challenge, and, after some ring circuits and ups-and-downs, G Zest was presented with the Dog CC, his second to date. G Albus then competed as Minor Puppy Dog winner against the Puppy Dog, and won Best Dog Puppy. On to the bitches, and in Post Graduate Bitch, perhaps the strongest class of the day, G Molly Malone, got a third. The day was to good for the bitches, as Best of Breed and Best Puppy both went to that sex.

Nevertheless, a very good day for Gulliagh and we never felt the journey home.
