So the day after the IWCNI Club Show, there's the Belfast All-Breed UK Championship, Vivien Philips was the first time judge for Irish Wolfhounds today. Cuknocklong Henry Higgins again won his Junior Dog class, while his aunt and RBIS from yesterday, Ir Ch Gulliagh Corrig again won her Open Bitch class, the bitch CC and then Best of Breed!
That was her third CC, so she now has her second championship and can now be called GB Ch & Ir Ch Gulliagh Corrig.

Once again the Irish Wolfhound Club of Northern Ireland ran its UK Championship Show at Hillsborough Fort, Co. Down. We had an excellent day under the Canadian judge Mr James Reynolds. Cuknocklong Henry Higgins (Junior Dog), Gulliagh Constance (Puppy Bitch), G Killogues (Novice Bitch) and G Scarlet (Veteran Bitch) all won their classes, G Barraduff was second in Limit Bitch, while her sister Ir Ch G Corrig did not just win her Open Bitch class, but also the Bitch CC (her second!) and RBIS.
Scarlet went on to win Best Veteran, her mother Ir Ch G Nedine won Best Brood Bitch, and her younger son G Ardtully won Best Head yet again (he has this award many times at Club Shows). So overall a very successful day!.

Our "Hal" Cuknocklong Henry Higgins ended his puppy career in style at last weeks IWCI Club show by winning Best Puppy in Show. In his five months of showing Hal has won 2 Best Puppy in Shows at Club Specialities, the Irish Wolfhound Club UK and The Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland Shows. He has won seven first prizes, two Reserve Green Stars and the Green Star at the Hound Association of Ireland Show.
Now Hal enters the junior class, so he is looking forward to that and again meeting all his other IW friends at the up-coming shows....

The first weekend in May, saw Tim, Marion and Max and the Gulliagh show team, comprising IWs Gulliagh Ardtully, Corrig and Cuknocklong Henry Higgins (Hal) and of course Ir Ch Nice One from Vitoraz to Gulliagh (Nachos) our Wire Kaninchen traveled to Tipperary for 3 shows.
At the first show Fermoy All Breed Internatinal Show, judge Mrs Marie Christine Dellabelle from Belguium. Hal won his puppy class, Ardtully won res GSD/res CACIB and Corrig was awarded the bitch GS/CACIB/BOB. But the real star of the day was little Nachos, not alone did she win the GS/CACIB/BOB, under breed specialist from Switzerland Mrs S Osterwalder, but later she was awarded 1st in Group 4 by Mr R Osterwalder. This is Nachos second Group 4 win, both at International show, with very large Dachshunds entries.
Next day was South Tipperary All Breed Show, here IWs were judged by German sighthound specialist Mrs W Schwerm-Hahne. Ardully was awarded 1st in open and the Green Star, again Hal won his puppy class and took the res Green Star. Nachos clocked up another GS/BOB and was placed 4th in group 4 by breed specialist Mrs B Hayward from the UK.
And so to the final show of this rather busy week-end. it was the Hound Association Championship Show. The judge was Mrs L Matthews. Hal was really our star of the day not alone again winning his puppy class but later he won the Green Star, quite an achivement for a 10 months old IW. Later his was placed 3rd in the overall puppy stakes. Again Nachos won the GS/BOB, under Mrs S Kealy.

Following on from Gulliagh Corrig's great success at Crufts, she travelled with her kennelmates to the Irish Wolfhound Club of GB Club Show, in Stoneleigh, England. It was their 125th Anniversary, and they had an entry of 130 hounds. Tim and Marion were there 25 years agi at their 100th anniversary, with two of the ancestors of our present dogs, Ir & GB Ch Gulliagh Galleon and Ir Ch Hydebeck Nessa of Gulliagh. Corrig again showed and moved wonderfully was placed 2nd in a very large Open Bitch class, and was awarded the Reserve Challenge Certificate.
Her young nephew, Cuknocklong Henry Higgins, came with her for company and for his first trip to England, walked away with the Best Puppy in Show prize, as well as the Best Head and Expression. The judge this year was Mr Keith Pursglove.

The 'World's Greatest Dog Show' is what Crufts calls itself, and is still the world's largest. The judge for Wolfhounds this year is Mrs S Sharpe, and she had two Gulliagh hounds to judge. The first was Gulliagh Ardtully, who won the Open Dog class. Later on, his sister Gulliagh Corrig improved on his performance by winning her Open Bitch class, and then claiming the bitch CC and Reserve Best of Breed!

Newtownards and District Canine Club held its annual Championship Show today at Balmoral Showgrounds, Belfast. The judge was breed specialist and first-time awarding Green Stars, Mrs Alison Messenger. Our Gulliagh Corrig won the bitch Green Star, Best of Breed and later fourth in Group 10 under Mr Tony Rainey.
It was also the first show for Corrig's young nephew, Cuknocklong Henry Higgins, who won a Reserve Green Star in the breed, and in the Puppy Stakes was placed third in show by Hungarian judge Mr Tamas Jakkel.
10/02/10
Our Dachshund, Ir Ch Nice One from Vitoraz to Gulliagh, finished in the Dachshund Group top 4 last year, sealing qualification to the IKC Show Dog of the Year 2010. The judge for this gala event was Mrs Elisabeth Clerc from Switzerland. The top 4 dogs from each group compete against each other, our 'Nachos' was against two Miniature Long-Haireds and a Standard Long-Haired, and sure enough she triumphed over them to be top Dachshund.
A most enjoyable night!
